Theodore J. Wadas, O.D.

Upon graduating from Optometry School, Dr. Wadas returned to his hometown of New York Mills and opened his private practice, Theodore J. Wadas, O.D., P.C. in 1987. 

 

Having practiced as a solo-provider for his entire career, Dr. Wadas feels fortunate to have his children return to the area and practice with and alongside them. 

 

When not in the office, Dr. Wadas enjoys spending time with his family, golfing and tending to his large garden.

Nancy M. Bulas, O.D.

Originally from Buffalo, NY, Dr. Bulas moved to the Mohawk Valley following completion of Optometry school and marrying her husband, Dr. Ted Wadas. 

 

Having practiced at a variety of different settings in the early part of her career, Dr. Bulas founded North Country Eye Associates (Wadas Eye - Barneveld office) in 1998. She is thrilled to have her children return to the area and practice with and alongside them.

 

When not in the office, Dr. Bulas enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and volunteering at church events.

Matthew J. Wadas, O.D.

Dr. Wadas grew up in Barneveld and graduated from Holland Patent High School. He completed his undergraduate studies locally at Mohawk Valley Community College and Utica College. He went on to obtain his doctorate at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. He completed additional training at the Syracuse VA Medical Center and The Eye Institute in Philadelphia as well as numerous eye clinics and private offices throughout the Northeastern United States; working with and alongside some of the top eye care professionals in the field. 

 

Dr. Wadas is committed to providing top-notch, patient-centered eye care to his hometown community and remains up to date on the latest medical and technological advancements. He is a key-opinion and thought leader in the areas of dry eye disease and presbyopia-treatment and management and consults for a number of pharmaceutical companies. 

​

Outside the office, Dr. Wadas enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, traveling and all that Upstate New York and the nearby Adirondack Mountains have to offer.

​

Dr. Wadas is available to see patients at the Whitesboro and Herkimer offices. He is also part of the medical staff at the Masonic Care Community of New York, overseeing their eye clinic.

Amanda M. Scalise, O.D.

Dr. Scalise was born and raised in Marcy and attended Whitesboro schools. She then attended Utica College and went on to receive her doctorate from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Elkins Park, PA. After training at several private practices, and gaining a wealth of knowledge from her time at the Manchester VA Medical Center, she is happy to be back in the area providing eye care to the community she grew up in.

​

She currently resides in the Barneveld area with her husband, Dr. Matt Wadas, their two children Amelia and Carson, cat Nola and yorkie pup Louie. When not in the office, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, has a passion for cooking, loves to travel and photograph every moment along the way. She is also the creative mind behind @wadaseye on Instragram (be sure to follow!)

Dr. Scalise is available to see patients at the Barneveld office. She is also a certified myopia management specialist.

Kimberly A. Wadas, O.D.

Dr. Kimberly A. Wadas

Dr. Kimberly Wadas was born and raised in Central New York. She spent much of her childhood working, filing, and answering phones at her father’s practice. Her experiences and interactions with patients influenced her decision to pursue a career in Optometry.

 

Dr. Wadas completed her undergraduate studies at Utica College, and graduated from the MCPHS University School of Optometry. Throughout her time in New England, she volunteered and provided eye and vision services to a diverse patient base. Her clinical training focused primarily on primary care, including complex disease, with a specialty in low vision. Dr. Wadas’ training has given her a strong foundation to provide cutting-edge care to her patients. During Optometry school, she was the recipient of numerous awards, including BSK for academic excellence and the William Feinbloom award for low vision.

​

Dr. Wadas is available to see patients at the Whitesboro office. Additionally, she is a New York State Certified Low Vision Specialist, seeing patients at the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI).

Benjamin T. Wadas, O.D.

Dr. Wadas was born and raised locally, graduating from Holland Patent High School, Mohawk Valley Community College and Utica College. Dr. Wadas received his Doctorate from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Worcester, MA. He completed his clinical training in various settings and sub-specialty clinics, including the Manchester Veterans Affairs Hospital 

​

Dr. Wadas enjoys practicing clinically, however, he has also been involved in research. His research has focused on Retinitis Pigmentosa - which he has presented nationally - most recently at the American Academy of Optometry's annual meeting. He has also presented on the topic of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia in the Eye. 

 

Being the most recent addition to Wadas Eye, he is grateful and excited to return home and practice,  joining his family and serving his hometown community. 

​

Outside the office, Dr. Wadas is an avid golfer, outdoorsman and sports fan, especially baseball. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, family and friends.

​

Mark M. Ainsworth, O.D.

Dr. Mark M. Ainsworth

Dr. Ainsworth earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1991.  Following graduation, he returned to his hometown and founded Herkimer Eyecare Center.

 

Dr. Ainsworth believes in giving back to his community and is involved in many organizations. In 2004, he was named Optometrist of the year by the New York State Optometric Association.

Dr. Ainsworth is available to see patients at the Herkimer office.
